'Roadblocks, trapping vehicles and violent behavior,' LMPD urges drivers to avoid downtown due to protesters

LMPD has a heavy police presence in downtown Louisville after they say some protesters were exhibiting aggressive behavior.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police are issuing a warning to those traveling downtown as protests continue.

Metro Police say due to the “aggressive behavior of demonstrators downtown, including roadblocks, trapping vehicles and violent behavior,” they are asking people to stay out of the area.

Police say they were aware of two Louisville news crews who have had bricks thrown at them.

Police could be heard given protesters a warning asking them to peacefully leave or they will dispense chemical agents and they will be arrested.

This is the third week of protests stemming from the fatal shooting of Louisville EMT, Breonna Taylor in March by police conducting a no-knock warrant.
