LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- While LMPD has always encouraged the community to report all crimes, they're making an extra push for those with language barriers to not fear reporting crimes.

LMPD posted a video on their Facebook page Thursday night encouraging those who speak other languages to seek help when needed.

One woman in the video says her car was stolen with her phone and legal documents inside. Initially, she says she didn't think the police would have been any help to her.

She says it took her four years to obtain her documents and if it weren't for an LMPD detective, they would have been lost forever.

She said she's thankful for the importance her case was given. Her car was found along with her belongings three weeks later.

LMPD says don't let not speaking English stop you from calling police for help.
