LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A woman plead not guilty after allegedly trying to kidnap a 1-year-old at Wayside Christian Mission in Louisville on Monday.

Deanna Mensing, 32, grabbed the child while he was playing in the common area of the shelter, according to court documents.

Police said as she was attempting to go down the elevator and out of the building with him, the mother of the child told Mensing to let go of him. However, she ignored the mother.

The citation states the mother told Mensing again to let go of her child, which got the attention of a worker for the shelter. The worker then asked Mensing for the child, and she eventually let him go.

Officers said Mensing left the building, but was later arrested.

Mensing was charged with attempted kidnapping, and is currently being held on a $25,000 cash bond.
