LMPD’s 4th Division seizes 100 guns in 101 days

LMPD said the guns that have been seized were not found in bulk.

LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – One hundred guns have been taken off the streets in 101 days. The 4th Division of Metro Police held a news conference on April 24 to talk about it.

LMPD Lt. Jason Grissom said every firearm that is confiscated is checked to see if it is linked to any other gun crimes. Several of the guns seized have been linked to homicides but Grissom did not give specific details on those cases.

LMPD said the officers that were highlighted are still responding to your 911 calls and they're still patrolling the streets.

“They're not investigators whose sole purpose is taking guns of the streets,” LMPD Lt. Jason Grissom, with LMPD 4th Division, said. “…they show up where the radio sends them.”

Many of the guns were not seized in bulk. Three is the most they have seized at one time. As of April 24, LMPD said they've seized 116 guns in 115 days.
