More than 100 dogs find 'furever' homes during Lou Adopts event

The event was important because pet surrenders and intakes have gone up significantly in the last year, but adoptions are down.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky Humane Society says its inaugural “Lou Adopts” event was a success.

The shelter said more than 115 dogs and puppies from six other animal shelters were able to find homes at the mega-adoption event held at the Kentucky Expo Center on Saturday.

“It was amazing to see so many excited families show up for our shelter dogs and give them the ‘furever homes’ they deserve,” they said in a Facebook post.

The event was important because pet surrenders and intakes have gone up significantly in the last year, but adoptions are down.

However, if you were unable to make Lou Adopts, you can still see available pets.
