New economic alliance announced in Louisville

The Louisville Economic Development Alliance, or LEDA, will be charged with attracting new businesses and expanding the footprint of those already in the area.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Mayor Craig Greenberg has announced a new economic alliance between Louisville’s public and private sectors.

The Louisville Economic Development Alliance, or LEDA, will be charged with attracting new businesses and expanding the footprint of those already in the area.

The alliance also hopes to create a citywide brand plus develop local talent to boost economic growth throughout the Metro.

“Our focus is on really building the strength of the entire city. We're taking a broader approach than that with this, really focusing on the strengths that our city has and how we capitalize them, where there are opportunities, whether it's strengthening industries that we have here, building new industries, all of that is going to be on the table,” Greenberg said.

The board will have 30 members representing private businesses, nonprofits, organized labor, higher education and local governments.

Board memberships are still being finalized and an interim CEO will be named in July.
