More than 30 firefighters battle house fire in Louisville's Highlands neighborhood

According to officials, everyone inside the building was able to safely evacuate.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Authorities are investigating the cause of an early morning house fire in the Highlands on Monday. The fire happened in the 1800 block of Eastern Parkway, in the Deer Park neighborhood, around 5:30 a.m.

The Louisville Fire Department (LFD) was able to respond within minutes and found fire and smoke coming through the dormer and roof of a two-and-half story residence.

LFD said they were able to enter from the back of the home and used multiple hand lines to extinguish the fire.

Officials said a response for extra equipment was needed for manpower, and it took 35 firefighters roughly 45 minutes to gain control of the blaze.
