Louisville's Great Lawn officially given new name

The TurfMutt Foundation has paid a million dollars to sponsor the Great Lawn for the next 10 years.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Officials renamed the Great Lawn at Louisville's Waterfront Park on Wednesday.

The TurfMutt Foundation has paid a million dollars to sponsor the Great Lawn for the next 10 years. It will be renamed the TurfMutt Foundation Great Lawn.

The organization is an educational program that teaches and promotes the benefits of a well-kept green space according to their website.

They announced the new name during the third annual "Mulligan's 5K Run and Walk" at the waterfront.

The event helped raise funds for the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) in supporting its mission of caring for animals.

"We're so grateful to have partners like this that help us," KHS Development Director Savannah Gregorchik said. "The Kentucky Humane Society actually takes in 6,000 dogs, cats and horses every single year...so the funds raised are gonna be able to support our mission of saving more animals."
