Louisville Metro Arson investigating car fire in downtown parking garage

Louisville firefighters said they first got the call around 8:30 p.m. about a pile of trash on fire in the alleyway by the parking garage for the Hilton Garden Inn.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A late-night fire on Monday had firefighters rushing to a downtown Louisville parking garage.

Louisville firefighters said they first got the call around 8:30 p.m. about a pile of trash on fire in the alleyway by the parking garage for the Hilton Garden Inn on West Chestnut Street.

When they got there, instead first responders said they found a car on fire inside the parking garage.

People downtown said they saw the smoke billowing out of the high rise structure.

Firefighters said they got the blaze under control in five minutes; they searched the area and the hotel before allowing everyone back inside.

No one was hurt, but Louisville Metro Arson is investigating what caused the fire.
