LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville's Metro Council signed off on location guidelines for medical marijuana dispensaries in Thursday.
The ordinance approved bans medical marijuana businesses from being within 1,000 feed of an educational building or childcare center.
This is in line with Kentucky mandates.
Only two dispensary licenses will be issued for Jefferson County.
The committee was considering banning dispensaries from being within 1,000 feet of a school, public park, public library or church.
However, several metro council members argued that was too restrictive.
The regulations would not leave many options and could make it more difficult for patients who can't travel very far.
