LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Metro Councilwoman Madonna Flood announced on Thursday she will not be seeking re-election.
The Democrat has represented Louisville's 24th District since Louisville and Jefferson County merged in 2003. The district makes up much of Okolona as well as portions of Highview and Fern Creek.
"After thoughtful consideration I have chosen not to seek re-election and to move forward with the next chapter in life," Flood said. "It has been an honor serving the hard-working residents in District 24 for the past twenty years."
According to a news release, some of the projects she spearheaded includes:
- Mitigating flooding issues in her district
- Securing land for a new regional library
- Expanding sidewalks
- Collaborating for road improvements
"I’m proud to have sponsored and passed the Smoking Ban Ordinance, Fairness Ordinance, Code Enforcement revisions, and Purple Heart Ordinance, which have all had a positive impact on the community," she added.
Flood will finish her out her final term at the end of 2024.
