LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Thanksgiving is 8 days away and Christmas is 35 days away. As always, the holidays mean lots of holiday travel.
The Transportation Security Administration is predicting the busiest Thanksgiving travel week on record.
TSA said Tuesday it projects it'll screen 18.3 million people in U.S. airports between Tuesday, Nov. 26 to Monday, Dec. 2, which would be a 6% jump from this time last year.
The Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) is partnering with IDEMIA, a TSA PreCheck authorized provider, to hose a TSA PreCheck enrollment event, according to a release.
This is the fourth year IDEMIA and SDF have collaborated in a TSA PreCheck enrollment in the past two years.
Enrollment begins Dec. 3 through Dec. 20 during business days.
Appointments will be available from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. excluding Saturdays and Sundays.
The airport says appointments are strongly encouraged; however, a limited number of walk-ins may be accepted.
Access to the temporary TSA PreCheck enrollment event will be located on the ticketing level, immediately behind the Spirit Airlines ticket counter in the terminal. Applicants should follow the signs to the temporary enrollment center.
TSA PreCheck provides low-risk travelers with a smoother experience through airport security and is a great option for those looking to save time when traveling.
Enrolled members do not need to remove shoes, laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts or light jackets. They also access the dedicated TSA PreCheck screening lanes at more than 200 airports across the nation.
The TSA PreCheck enrollment process is quick and convenient. To sign-up, interested individuals should complete the online application.
When searching for locations, select "Louisville, KY – Pop-Up: SDF, 12/3-12/20" as the appointment or walk-in location. As part of enrollment, the in-person interview requires all applicants to provide proof of identity, proof of citizenship, fingerprints and a photo.
You can learn more about what documents are needed in the application link.
Following the in-person enrollment appointment, most applicants will receive their Known Traveler Number (KTN) in three to five days. The KTN should then be added to all flight reservations to enjoy all the TSA PreCheck benefits.
So far, the partnership between INDEMIA and the airport has enrolled nearly 1,300 people in TSA PreCheck.
