Louisville organization throws support behind ex-mayor's office official after firing

Mayor Craig Greenberg's office said ex-deputy chief of staff Keisha Dorsey was fired for dishonesty and falsifying time sheets.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky Alliance Against Racist and Political Oppression is throwing their support behind Keisha Dorsey after she was fired from the mayor’s office earlier this month.

Dorsey served as deputy chief of staff in Mayor Craig Greenberg’s office.

The mayor’s office said Dorsey was fired for dishonesty and falsifying time sheets.

However, the ex-official maintains she was discriminated against and wrongly fired while on medical leave.

During a panel held on Sunday, the organization said it was standing by Dorsey.

“It seemed to be just from my perspective, that there is a pattern here of women, especially Black women, that have been terminated from key positions, high profile positions,” Kathleen Parks, president of the National Action Network Louisville, said. “It seems to be a similar pattern here in terms of the way that they were treated, and also we’re concerned about the personnel practices that have occurred with this particular situation.”

Others who spoke echoed concerned about how Dorsey was fired, calling it abrupt and without dignity.

They contrasted Dorsey’s firing with the leaving of Barbra Sexton-Smith, saying she was able to leave the mayor’s office without the drama.
