Louisville police investigating after man found dead in alley on West Hill Street

LMPD's Homicide Unit is investigating.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Police are investigating after they found a man dead in a Louisville alley early Sunday morning.

Around 4 a.m., Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) responded to a report of a person down in the rear alley in the 1700 block of West Hill Steet.

Upon arrival, officers said they found 33-year-old Keemont Oates dead and the Jefferson County Coroner's Office said the cause of death is homicide.

LMPD’s SWAT served a search warrant at a home near the scene. As SWAT was clearing the location, police said they found a man outside that was suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.

EMS was called and took the man to UofL Hospital where he is expected to survive. LMPD's homicide detectives are still working to determine the relationship, if any, of the parties involved.

LMPD's Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate.
