LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police Officer Nick Wilt is continuing his journey to recovery more than a year after the Old National Bank shooting.

Wilt’s family posted on social media saying that he was “doing well and loving life.”

They added that Wilt was talking, walking and eating well and even has a new service dog named Luke.

His goal is to one day regain independence, live in his own home and have his own life.

Overall, Wilt’s family said he feels the community’s love and support and to keep the love and prayers coming.

Wilt was one of the first officers on the scene of the Old National Bank shooting in April 2023 and was shot in the head. He fought hard and survived and was released from the hospital a year ago.
