Runners take 'Pride' in Sunday race at Iroquois Park

About 600 runners took part in the annual Louisville Pride 5K.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Hundreds of runners took to the streets on Sunday for Louisville’s Pride 5K.

It is the third year the Louisville Pride Foundation and Louisville Running Company held the race in Iroquois Park to celebrate diversity and inclusion during Pride Month.

The event also served as a fundraiser for the Louisville Pride Foundation and participants said it was nice getting out while supporting a good cause.

“Races in general always bring the community together and it’s special to have a cause or a foundation that you’re supporting,” runner Jason Button said. “I have a lot of LGBTQ+ friends and allies and it’s fun to see us all get together and do something that’s good for both fitness and the community.”

This year’s Kentuckiana Pride Festival and Parade will take place on June 15.
