LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The city has selected three companies to transform several lots it owns in downtown Louisville.
According to a news release, Poe Companies and Weyland Ventures, both Louisville companies, and a Dallas, Texas developer were selected to more forward with developments.
The properties include the Mud Lot at Jefferson and 9th Streets and the Civic Center. That includes the site of the former Louisville Metro Police Headquarters at 7th and Jefferson Streets, the Market Street parking garage, the Fiscal Court building, and the surface lots on the south side of Market Street between 6th and 7th Streets.
“We are excited to announce our plan to transform these underutilized properties into centers of activity in our downtown, which is the heart of our city,” Mayor Craig Greenberg said. “Growing Louisville Together, the city’s draft economic development plan, highlights our need to invest in quality of place to attract and retain the talent that companies are seeking."
He continued on to say redeveloping these city-owned lots "will create new opportunities to engage Louisvillians and visitors and add to the vibrancy of our downtown.”
The projects could range from housing, to hospitality, to commercial to entertainment.
The proposed plans are expected to be complete later this year according to the release.
