Louisville Zoo offering special discounts for Grandparents' Day and 'Senior Sundays'

If you're a senior citizen looking for something to do with your family, the Louisville Zoo has two special events just for you.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Grandparents and senior citizens now have an opportunity to save money while getting out and enjoying Zoo with their family.

The Louisville Zoo is offering a special discount on Grandparents’ Day and Senior Sundays in September.

During these special days, guests can participate in special scavenger hunts focused on the Zoo’s animal grandparents and their important role in conservation.

Humana will have their “Humana Hydration Station” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where guests can receive free water and cooling towels.

“As a lifelong Louisvillian, I have so many fun-filled memories of spending time with family and friends at our beautiful zoo,” Eric Bohannon, Humana Midwest Region Medicare President. “I’m excited that Humana can help share this experience with older adults who would like to celebrate Grandparents Day or Senior Sundays at the Louisville Zoo.”

How does it work?

Grandparents’ Day is Sept. 8 and guests can enjoy free admission for up to two grandparents with the purchase of a regular-priced child or adult general admission ticket.

Members can bring up to two grandparents for free.

On Senior Sundays, seniors ages 60 and older receive free admission on Sept. 15, 22 and 29.

The zoo is also extending its Glacier Run Splash Park hours including weekend through Sept. 29.
