LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The Lyndon Fire Department will be no more as it merges into the St. Matthews Fire protection district.
In a post online, Lyndon Chief David Howser said the merger will enhance fire and emergency services by reducing response times and increasing staffing levels. The merger will also enhance emergency medical response by expanding the St. Matthews EMS service throughout the district.
The merger goes into effect on Sunday, July 1.
