LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One man is dead and another is in critical condition at the hospital after a deadly crash on New Year's Eve in Louisville's PRP neighborhood.

At about 5:50 p.m., Louisville Metro Police responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 7800 block of St. Andrew Church Road, according to an LMPD news release.

Investigators believe the car was travelling northbound at a "high rate of speed" on St. Andrew Church Road before the driver of the vehicle lost control for "some unknown reason" and collided with the corner of a building.

EMS and Fire crews were called to the scene. EMS transported both the driver and passenger of the vehicle to UofL Hospital with what officials said were "life-threatening injuries."

The man who was a passenger in the vehicle died a short time after arriving at the hospital. The man driving the car remains in "critical condition," authorities say.

No other vehicles were involved in this collision. LMPD'S Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
