Man leaves baby at Humana building, LMPD investigating

Police said they want to find the man so they can understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A baby is in the hospital after being left at the Humana Waterside building Thursday afternoon.

In a social media post, Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) said officers were called to the building for a baby that had been dropped off at the location.

When officers arrived, authorities said they met with security on site who told officers a man had walked on property, said he had a baby, set the baby down, then walked away.

The child was then taken to the hospital where Child Protective Services and OSPI-CACU detectives responded. Police said the baby appeared to be unharmed.

Investigators said they are looking for the man, who was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a white t-shirt, a black hoodie and red and white tennis shoes.

The relationship between the man and the baby is unknown at this time.

Police said they want to find the man so they can understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.

In a later update, LMPD said they have been in contact with the baby's mother.

"We want to say thank you to the community for stepping forward and helping provide solid times an information that allowed our detectives from OSPI-CACU to get this investigation moving quickly," police said.

Anyone with information about the man is encouraged to call 911 or call LMPD's anonymous tip line at (502) 574-LMPD (5673).
