Man killed in Gene Snyder motorcycle crash identified

Police have identified the victim in a motorcycle accident that occurred late Monday evening.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11)-- Police have identified the victim in a motorcycle accident that occurred late Monday evening.

The victim is 27-year-old, Shelby McNew. Police say McNew was speeding when he crashed his motorcycle into a guardrail and was thrown from the bike with no helmet.The accident occurred at 3000 South Park Road. This is just west of I-65 and inside of the Gene Snyder Freeway.

Police said McNew was speeding at the time of the crash.

Motorcyclists are not required by law to wear a helmet in the state of Kentucky.
