LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man was sentenced to 20 year in prison on charged of child sexual abuse, according to a release from the Jefferson Circuit Court.
Airan Mendez was sentenced on Thursday after being found guilty by a Louisville jury.
“Our children deserve nothing less than the chance to grow up happy and healthy,” Commonwealth’s Attorney Gerina Whethers said. “Anyone who would threaten the safety and innocence of the kids in our community deserves to be behind bars.”
Mendez is facing the following charged and time in prison:
- Count 1 Sodomy in the First Degree (Victim Under 12): 20 Years
- Count 2 Sodomy in the First Degree (Victim Under 12): 20 Years
- Count 3 Sodomy in the First Degree (Victim Under 12): 20 Years
- Count 4 Sexual Abuse in the First Degree (Victim Under 12): 5 Years
- Count 5 Sexual Abuse in the First Degree (Victim Under 12): 5 Years
- Count 6 Distribution of Obscene Matter to Minors: 12 months
Mendez will serve his time concurrently which means in total he will serve 20 years in prison.
