LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Many see the holidays as a time to give back to their community. A staple in Louisville, Maryhurst, is asking for a helping hand.
The nonprofit serves Kentucky's most vulnerable kids and families, offering residential and community services for those who suffer from abuse.
With the holidays in full swing. Maryhurst tells WHAS11 News that the organization has filled 450 wish lists.
To further help families in need, they need gift cards.
Micah Jorrisch, Chief Community Officer for Maryhurst, said the nonprofit needs people to donate gift cards because families can purchase exactly what they want this Christmas.
"Gift cards to Walmart, Target, Amazon, Meijers and Krogers would be greatly appreciated and we'll be able to give them out to families throughout the holiday season so they can take care of anything that they need," Jorrisch said.
You can drop off gift cards of any amount to Maryhurst until Friday, Dec. 23.
Officials say the children they serve could also benefit from donations of clothing, hygiene supplies and bedding.
