LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) – A Metro Louisville Councilman is calling for an outside investigation of the sex abuse allegations concerning the LMPD Explorer Program.

David James and other council members will hold a news conference at City Hall at 4 p.m.

This call comes after Mayor Greg Fischer asked for the lawsuit to be unsealed but still protect the victim’s identity. The lawsuit claims a man was sexually abused when he was a teenager during his participation in the youth program.

The mayor also suspended the program temporarily on Monday, March 13.

Chief Steve Conrad launched investigations into the allegations when they surfaced, the Mayor said.

The investigation into the allegations is ongoing.
