Amber Alert issued after 2 girls abducted from Georgia Burger King

An 11-year-old and a 4-year-old were believed to be abducted Sunday.

COLUMBUS, Ga. — An Amber Alert was canceled Monday after two young girls believed to be abducted in Georgia were found safe.

According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, an 11-year-old and a 4-year-old were taken from a Burger King just before noon Sunday at 7301 Veterans Parkway in Muscogee County. 

On Monday, Columbus Police called the alert off, saying both girls were found safe in South Georgia around 11:30 a.m. They did not say if anyone was in custody.

Police said they continue to investigate, adding that charges could still be filed in the girls' abduction. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. L. Zieverink at 706-225-4384.
