BARDSTOWN, Ky. — A Nelson County firefighter is recovering after an on the job injury while battling a fire on Friday.
Bardstown Fire responded to the blaze on Terrapin Road just after 2:30 p.m.
When the crew first arrived on scene, they noticed heavy smoke coming from the attic.
After getting inside the structure, one firefighter fell down the basement stairs which forced the crew to evacuate.
That firefighter was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries.
It took 20 firefighters from four different departments to get the fire under control.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
