New augmented reality project aims to help Louisvillians learn 'Footprints Through Time'

The groundbreaking project brings to life three historical places in Louisville.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The (Un)Known Project has launched an augmented reality experience along the Riverwalk.

The groundbreaking project brings to life three historical places in Louisville.

The goal is to learn the truths and dispel the myths surrounding the Transatlantic Slave Trade. It's 4-D, meaning it's an experience you'll be able to feel in more ways than just sights and sounds.

Footprints Through Time hopes to push boundaries to get people to truly think about Louisville’s history.

“We have people in Kentucky, people in other states, who don’t want this history to be taught. We think that there are really engaging ways to help people think about what are the things I haven’t learned about my community, about my state when it comes to the history of enslavement, how it is connected to my life today?” Josh Miller with the (Un)Known Project said.

The (Un)Known Project also honored prominent civil rights leaders in June with “In Our Elders’ Footprints” – an art installation that represents the interconnection between past, present and future.

You can visit “In Our Elders’ Footprints” and the AR installation along the Riverfront just off 10th Street.
