C&S Machine and Manufacturing celebrated the groundbreaking of their new facility in Oldham County on Tuesday.
The facility is slated to be 75,000-square-feet and bring over 100 high paying jobs to the up-and-coming area.
"We always talked about moving to Oldham County because it seemed like a great move," Bob Steele said. He created the company decades ago in a garage.
Now, 55 years later, his grandson Ryan is in charge of the company.
"We chose Oldham County because this is where we were born and raised," Steele said. "It's an upcoming area and the county is investing heavily in the infrastructure here and we also wanted to be a bigger fish in a smaller pond."
C&S creates components for the aerospace, commercial, defense, medical, and small arms industries. The company is looking to collaborate with local high schools to help students enter the manufacturing industry after they graduate.
"I want students to have an opportunity to come work with us and be hands on during their high school careers," Ryan Steele said. "They can get a feel for what manufacturing technology is all about."
The importance of community runs deep with Ryan and his grandfather, Bob.
"Could you imagine back in 1969 in a garage that you're paying $30 a month for, with three pieces of machinery, to get into this? No way," Bob Steele said.
For Ryan, it isn't just about supplying his customers, it's also supplying the community that he's been a part of for his entire life.
