North Hardin High School band director dies in car crash

28-year-old Kelsey Dunn was killed in a crash Tuesday during a round of heavy rain.

LEITCHFIELD, Ky. — Hardin County students and staff are mourning the loss of a beloved band director after she was killed in a crash Tuesday afternoon during a heavy round of rain.

At about 2:30 p.m. EST, Kentucky State Police and Grayson County Sheriff's Office responded to a two-vehicle collision on Western Kentucky Parkway in Grayson County.

Investigators believe 28-year-old Kelsey Dunn was driving her Toyota Camry in the rain when she lost control, crossed the median and entered the path of a semi-tractor trailer. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dunn was the Director of Bands at North Hardin High School. Hardin County Superintendent Teresa Morgan said in response to the tragedy, "Ms. Dunn was passionate about her students and their well-being. She was more than a teacher; she was a mentor and a friend to all she encountered."

Counselors are at North Hardin High School Wednesday morning starting at 10 a.m. to meet with students and staff who need support.
