LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One person was taken to the hospital after a fire early Sunday morning in downtown Louisville.
Louisville Fire Department crews were dispatched to Dosker Manor, located on the 400 block of E. Muhammad Ali Blvd., on the report of a fire alarm sounding around 5 a.m.
Upon arrival, crews said they saw flames on the balcony of a fourth floor apartment and requested the alarm be upgraded to a structure fire. Firefighters said they saw "heavy smoke" inside the building in the hallway of the fourth floor, and the sprinkler system was going off.
Crews located the fire on the balcony of a fourth floor apartment, and they were able to put it out before it could spread.
Officials said it took 26 firefighters 16 minutes to control the fire.
One resident was taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is not suspected to be arson, officials said.
