LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An Ohio man visiting Kentucky with his wife won big playing the Kentucky Lottery earlier this month.

Steven Green and his wife Wendy were at Lake Cumberland on their houseboat after traveling down from Alexandria, Ohio.

During a recent trip, Kentucky Lottery officials said the couple stopped by the Wings and Rings in Somerset and played the lottery's Keno game while at the restaurant.

Green told lottery officials he had been playing the same 10 numbers for a while, using the birthdays and ages of his wife and kids. This time, he said he changed a few numbers and purchased a $5 ticket instead of the $10 one.

It wasn't long before the Greens noticed they had matched some of their numbers with the ones the lottery monitor drew.

"Oh my god, we hit a lot of numbers on this one," Wendy Green said.

Once the drawing was complete, they gave the ticket to the bartender to check. However, it kept telling them to speak with the Kentucky Lottery because the "prize exceeds cashing limit."

Steven's ticket matched 10 of the 20 numbers on the Keno drawing on Sept. 12 winning the game's $100,000 top prize.

"I know it's big but don't know how much," he said. "I had goosebumps. It took about 10-15 minutes for it to sink in."

Steven said his wife started crying when he told her about their win.

The couple drove down to the Kentucky Lottery's Headquarters in Louisville the day after their win and received a check for $72,000 after taxes.

The Greens said they are both looking to retire in a couple of years and the winnings will help them prepare for that.
