Ohio woman identified in fatal Pope Lick train trestle accident

Officials have identified a woman who died after being struck by a Norfolk Southern train Saturday night on the Pope Lick Road railroad trestle.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Officials have identified a woman who died after being struck by a Norfolk Southern train Saturday night on the Pope Lick Road railroad trestle.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office says Roquel Bain, 26, of Dayton, Ohio, died from blunt force injuries after she was struck by a passing train and fell from the trestle, which stands over 80 feet above the ground.

Bain and her boyfriend were in Kentucky on a paranormal sightseeing trip and were said to have been investigating an urban legend on the trestle when the train approached.

Her boyfriend was able to survive by hanging on to the side of the trestle as the train passed.

Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a role.
