Olmsted Parks Conservancy making push to reach fundraising goal

The Olmsted Parks Conservancy is hoping its new music video will encourage people to donate money to help with the upkeep of the historic parks.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The Olmsted Parks Conservancy is hoping its new music video will encourage people to donate money to help with the upkeep of the historic parks.

The organization launched its Campaign for Extraordinary Parks in March 2014. Now, they're just $200,000 short of their fundraising goal.

To complete the campaign, the James Graham Brown Foundation committed up to $100,000 for a dollar-for-dollar match by supporters, but those donations have to be in by the end of the year.

"The money that we're raising will help us across the whole city. From Boones Square to Iroquois Park to Cherokee Park and the different projects that help enhance them and make sure that people have an enjoyable time,” said Liz Dehart of the Olmsted Parks Conservancy.

Some of those projects include the overlook restoration in Iroquois Park, nature camps in Chickasaw Park and the renovation of Victory Park.
