JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. — An 18-year-old is dead after a crash in Jackson County on Black Friday, according to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff Department.
They say it happened around 5:45 p.m. in the 2000 block of East State Road 258, West of Seymour. The Sheriff's Office says this is the Hamilton Township.
A 19-year-old from Seymour was driving east on State Road 258 when she lost control of her car.
After loosing control she crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a red pickup truck, the release said.
The truck was being driven by 18-year-old Michael Carpenter of Freetown.
The 19-year-old and her passenger were both taken to to Schneck Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, the release said. They were later released after treatment.
Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County Coroner's Office.
The Indiana State Police also responded to the scene. The crash is still being investigated.
