Pedestrian in 'critical condition' after struck by car in downtown Louisville

A man was reportedly in the middle of West Broadway, not at a crosswalk, when a driver ran him over Wednesday morning.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A man is in the hospital, critically injured, after he was hit by a car Wednesday morning in downtown Louisville.

At about 6 a.m., Louisville Metro Police responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at 2nd Street and West Broadway, according to an LMPD news release.

Investigators believe a man was in the middle of the roadway on West Broadway, not in a crosswalk, when he was struck by a car traveling eastbound.

The man was transported to UofL Hospital in critical condition, officials said. There were no other injuries reported.

According to authorities, the driver remained on scene with their vehicle. The LMPD Traffic Unit is investigating.
