LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A woman is dead after she was struck by a vehicle on I-265 South.
The coroner's office identified her as 16-year-old Ava Simerly.
According to Metro Police, the incident was reported around 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18 on I-265 South at the 22 mile marker just past Taylorsville Road.
Police said a vehicle was headed southbound on I-265 when it struck Simerly who was in the roadway.
She was severely injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.
LMPD said they received calls about pedestrians in the roadway prior to the crash.
Police said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
LMPD’s Traffic Unit is handling the investigation.
