LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The aftermath of the deadly police shooting in Breonna Taylor’s home can be seen in photos released by Attorney Sam Aguiar on behalf of Taylor’s family. The photos show bullet holes and damages to the door where police entered.
Some of those photos can be seen in the video player above or on our YouTube Page.
Taylor, a 26-year-old former EMT, was shot and killed in her apartment on March 13 by police attempting to execute a no-knock search warrant. When police entered the home at 12:43 a.m., they said they were met with gunfire from Taylor's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker. Officers fired 22 times into the apartment.
Attorneys claim Taylor’s family said she was struck eight times as officers were shooting “blindly” from her patio. They said officers didn't identify themselves, and Walker shot at officers in self-defense when a police sergeant was struck in the leg.
Louisville Metro Council is now joining the calls for a larger investigation.
“We understand that LMPD is filled with fantastic police officers that do a great job every day and decisions about life and death are made in split seconds as they perform their duties. However, this particular incident raises many questions that all need to be answered,” said Metro Council President David James.
LMPD chief Steve Conrad said today the investigation is nearly complete, adding the FBI, U.S. Attorney, and Kentucky Attorney General will all review the case after Commonwealth Attorney Tom Wine recused himself.
