LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville residents now have more options to help them out on their fitness journey.
Mayor Craig Greenberg announced a new partnership between Planet Fitness and Louisville Parks and Recreation.
The fitness company has donated more than 80 pieces of cardio and strength equipment to Beechmont, Southwick, Sun Valley, Park Hill, California, Wilderness Road, Berrytown, Portland and Douglas community centers.
Greenberg said the donation will have a positive impact on the health and wellness of the community.
“We will put this equipment to good use and make it readily available to the public at community centers all across our city,” he said.
Rick Kueber and his brother David are franchise owners of all Louisville-are Planet Fitness clubs and said part of the company’s mission is “Fitness for All.”
“Providing these well-deserving community centers with equipment as well as sponsoring the Mayorthon series gives us the opportunity to bring fitness to many more Louisvillians. We appreciate Mayor Greenberg and his team putting health and wellness front and center for the city,” Rick said in a statement.
Metro Council President Markus Winkler, who represents District 17, said he is excited to see the progress made to ensure residents have access to spaces that promote health and fitness.
