LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- It was an unusual site on the stand in a Louisville courtroom on August 8.
Steve Conrad and Greg Fischer testified in a whistleblower civil case filed by LMPD Lieutenant Jimmy Harper. He claims he was demoted in retaliation for voicing concerns about the decision to disband LMPD's flex platoons.
That decision not only upset Harper but several council members, who sent Fischer and Conrad a letter voicing their concerns.
Chief Conrad took the stand, facing some sharp questions about his integrity. He told the jury when he first thought of demoting Harper, the deputy mayor told Fischer, he did not have enough reason.
Harper's lawyers suggested the fear of a lawsuit motivated Conrad to keep score and find what he needed to justify the demotion.
Chief Conrad will be back on the stand August 9.
