HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The Montgomery Sheriff's Office in Tennessee confirmed Friday morning the man accused of killing a police officer has died.
Authorities in Clarksville, Tennesee confirm deputies shot and killed the suspect.
Police say James Decoursey was posing as a police officer and pulled over Officer Phillip Meacham when he was off-duty Thursday in Hopkinsville.
Investigators say that's when Decoursey shot at Meacham and ran off.
Meacham later died at the hospital.
The Hopkinsville police chief says Decoursey was known to them.
No other injuries were reported.
