LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A motorcyclist is dead after a fiery crash shut down part of Preston Highway late Wednesday night.
Louisville Metro Police officers were dispatched to the 5600 block of Preston Highway around 10:30 p.m. That's near East Indian Trail and just east of the airport.
Investigators' preliminary investigation and witness statements revealed a man riding a motorcycle was traveling southbound on Preston, when for some unknown reason, he lost control and hit another vehicle traveling north. The impact caused the vehicle to catch fire.
Firefighters quickly put out the fire, and the motorcyclist died at the scene according to police.
The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital where he is expected to survive.
Police said the roadway was expected to be closed for around three hours.
