LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) are investigating a shooting that happened in the St. Denis neighborhood on Tuesday.
Police said they responded to the reported shooting on Saddlebrook Lane just after 3 p.m.
When officers arrived, LMPD said they found two people who had been shot and that one of the victims had his car stolen during the incident.
Authorities said officers found the car near Cane Run Road and Rockford, and they pursued the car until it wrecked in the 1400 block of Catalpa near Maupin Elementary.
Jefferson County Public Schools put the elementary school on heightened security as a response to the investigation, and they have since been given the all clear.
Police charged 19-year-old Jaden Hinds with the incident. They believe at least one other person got away.
Both victims were transported to the hospital, and police said they are expected to survive.
Hinds was pleaded not guilty in court on Wednesday. His bond was set at $150,000.
LMPD's Robbery Unit is leading the investigation.
