LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Kenneth Ryan Anthony, better known as R. Prophet of Nappy Roots is the subject of a police brutality case against Kentucky State Police.

"They humiliated me because they knew I was R. Prophet of the Nappy roots so they stripped all my clothes off me so I'm on the side of the highway in just my boxers and my undershirt," Prophet explains.

It happened in April 2013, but it still affects R. Prophet. He was stopped at a KSP DUI checkpoint outside Elizabethtown and wasn't the driver.

"I was beat, broke my nose, beat head to toe, hog-tied and threw into the police car tased 15 times," Prophet told WHAS 11.

KSP said the rapper took a defensive stance towards a Trooper and refused orders. Two years later the case sits in front of three judges in Frankfort under discretionary review.

Now MTV is bringing Prophet's case to millions of viewers as he's the subject of the latest installment of the television show Catfish.

Prophet describes getting the call from the show, "I was taken back, but then I thought about it and I love shows that have a little bit of fun to them and they have the reality to them and a sense of purpose."

As the show's hosts dive into Prophet's love interest, Trinity, many details are brought to light the hard way.

As the search for love continues so does Prophet's search for justice as he firmly states, "Get my career back to where it needs to be, continue to be an upstanding citizen, try to motivate kids and move on with my life while still fighting the case."

Prophet said giving up is not an option and stands by what he calls police brutality.

Now the struggle to obtain love, continue music, and find peace are being broadcast on an international stage. The rapper says all three are possible.
