Beloved Louisville business owner dies just days after fulfilling dying wish of attending Kentucky Derby 150

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A beloved Louisville business owner died this week, just three days after fulfilling his dying wish.

Rainbow Blossom co-founder Rob Auerback died on Tuesday at 72 years old, according to a Rainbow Blossom social media post. He was on his farm in Kentucky surrounded by his wife and daughters, who he affectionately called "his girls."

His loved ones said his dying wish was to go to the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby, and incredibly he was able to fulfill his final wish and attend the milestone Derby.

Since opening the first Rainbow Blossom 47 years ago, there are now six locations across Louisville and southern Indiana. The natural foods company guarantees its food is free of synthetic preservatives, artificial colors and flavors.

"Rob was known for his intuitive business sense, good humor, and love for life. He leaves behind a legacy of extraordinary accomplishments and unbelievable stories," the Facebook post said.

Aside from starting Rainbow Blossom, Rob was also an avid pilot and passionate about horse racing, cycling, beekeeping, live music and traveling.

"He will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty, genuine warmth, and his uncanny ability to make those around him feel special and like they belonged," the Facebook post said. "Rob had a huge impact on his friends, family, and community. He was a steadying force of calm during a crisis."

A celebration of Rob's life will be held on May 10th, at The Temple in Louisville beginning at 11:30 a.m. with a service to follow at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Olmsted Parks Conservancy, in honor of Rob's commitment to the community.

Rob is preceded in death by his parent, Minx Mansbach Auerbach and Sy Auerbach. He is survived by his wife Pumpkin Auerbach, two children, four grandchildren and his siblings.
