Old Louisville ramen shop damaged after fiery crash

Renshoku Ramen and their neighbors are picking up the pieces after their building was severely damaged after a fiery crash Friday evening.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — An Old Louisville business is turning to the community for help after a fiery car crash damaged their building.

Police said a car was speeding on South 2nd and West Oak Streets on Friday when it hit a parked car and a tree.

The car caught on fire, spreading to a tree and the building that housed Renshoku Ramen and some apartments. The person inside the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the incident, owners of the restaurant announced they were closed until further notice via social media.

“Our focus is currently on supporting our employees and our upstairs neighbors whose apartments were impacted while assessing full restaurant and clean up,” Renshoku Ramen told WHAS11 News Monday night in a statement.

If you would like to help the restaurant, they want you to purchase digital gift cards on their website and visit them when they reopen.

A date for the reopening has not been given.
