LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Demolition work at the old Louisville Water company is at a halt after a new request to make it a local historic landmark.
Newer additions to the building have already been demolished.
The Neighborhood Planning & Preservation submitted a request to protect the building.
On Monday, the Committee on Local Landmarks and Preservation Districts Designations will hold a special meeting to make a final decision for the new request.
The Old Water Company Building is being demolished to make way for the new Omni Hotel.
Under the current plan, the facade and other historic parts of the building would be saved and put in storage.
