LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Are you just now getting your RiverLink bill?

It was not a mistake. The first batch of monthly bills are being sent to RiverLink customers without prepaid accounts.

According to a news release, invoicing was paused during the transition to a new toll service provider to help "prevent overlap between the two providers and confusion for customers." Invoicing has been on hold since April 2023.

The tolling service has implemented new monthly billing, that is similar to utility or credit card billing, for customers without prepaid accounts. Officials said drivers will see crossings for the month, unpaid tolls, and fees in spot. They will receive one monthly bill per vehicle.

"Consolidated monthly bills will help drivers track all activity in one spot, without juggling multiple invoices," Mindy Peterson, RiverLink spokesperson, said.

Peterson said customers will also see customized savings if they open a prepaid account.

"Tolls owed are rolled back to transponder rates and previous fees are waived. The savings can be substantial. Drivers save more than $2.50 per crossing with a prepaid account and transponder," she explained.

Despite the first bills being sent out, not all customers will be on the same billing cycle. They might have to wait until later this year to receive their first monthly bill.

Officials said the new provider is still catching up on old crossings in order -- starting in April. Older transactions are expected on the first several monthly bills. But make note, fees will not be applied until a first toll notice on a monthly bill is unpaid.

Some customers will see higher invoices when they check. Peterson said it's a good time to consider opening a prepaid account to "take advantage of lower toll rates."

Payment plans are available, and offered to customers once every 12 months. If you are interested in this/would like more information, you can go to one of the two RiverLink Walk-Up Centers or you can call 855-RIV-LINK.

Customers with prepaid accounts may also see older crossings posting to their accounts. Officials said these crossings are video transactions (v-tolls) where your transponder was not read while crossing a tolled bridge.

Customers who've had any v-tolls from April 2023 to now will start seeing these crossings post to their prepaid accounts. Peterson said all activity should be up to date by early 2024.
