LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Voters are heading to the polls during a polarizing election year that has seemingly divided the country. One Louisville group is looking to change that.
The Rural Urban Exchange is an organization focused on bridging gaps and creating solutions in Kentucky between cities and rural areas around the commonwealth.
Hundreds gathered Saturday at the Kentucky Center on Saturday to listen to top political leaders as they hope to push for a more connected Kentucky.
Secretary of State Michael Adams spoke and said events like these are dwindling across the state.
“We're losing civic spaces we used to have where people can come together, things that aren't political events, where people aren't divided and against other people. They come together regardless of party and their Kentuckians first or their parents first, or sports fans first. We're getting where now we're in these online silos, and we yell at other people who are different from us. It's important that we find what we have in common is what this is all about,” he said.
The event helped celebrate the organization’s 10th year in Kentucky.
