LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky’s attorney general-elect said tackling violence in Louisville is one of his top four priorities once he takes office.
Russell Coleman, a former U.S. Attorney, outline the plans and announced his transition team Tuesday.
He said one of the first people he contacted after the election was Jefferson County Commonwealth’s Attorney Gerina Whethers to find out how he can help.
“Louisville remains a very dangerous place, particularly in some neighborhoods. I know the Attorney General has traditionally not been in that space, but I feel it's such an exigent issue in this Commonwealth that we're going to find a way to come alongside and assist the Commonwealth's Attorney in any way that's useful in saving lives in Louisville,” he said.
Coleman’s other top priorities are supporting county and Commonwealth’s Attorneys, addressing public corruption and tackling child exploitation and child sex abuse.
